GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
This position entails providing one-to-one support to a person with a developmental disability in their home and community. You must have patience, a personable demeanor, excellent communication skills, and be able to effectively work with minimal direct supervision. We're looking for compassionate and motivated individuals to join our Community Habilitation program. As a Community Habilitation Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will work one-on-one with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities, providing support at home and in the community to help them build independence and life skills. This is a flexible, fun, and rewarding role where you can make a direct impact. One of the great things about the people we support is that they are unique, with the ability to grow, develop, and be empowered. It takes a special person to help provide that opportunity. Just as each individual is unique, so are the staff who support them. If you're ready to make a difference, we'd love to have you on our team! Cases are in New Paltz and Saugerties. This is a per diem position.
    What you will be doing:
    Teaching new tasks Assisting in the creation and achievement of life goals Planning activities within the community Working independently while collaborating with other team members
    EXPERIENCE
    Working with Individuals that have IDD preferred but not required
    Requirements:
    High School Diploma or GED Pass all NYS and OPWDD background clearances Attending a week and a half orientation in Red Hook
