PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
12:1:4 Multiple Disabilities (MD) Class serving alternately assessed students with significant gross motor, fine motor, communication, medical, and developmental needs. Embody the Southern Westchester BOCES Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals in all instruction, decisions and actions. Supports students with complex developmental, communication, behavioral, physical, and medical needs within a self-contained classroom focused on individualized learning, functional academics, and daily living skills instruction. Develop and implement individualized, differentiated instruction aligned with students' IEP goals, alternative assessment standards, functional abilities, communication, behavioral, medical, and daily living skills. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, related-service providers, and families to support student progress across academic, communication, social-emotional, adaptive, motor, behavioral, and functional domains. Collaborate with staff to implement individualized supports throughout instruction, transitions, therapies, meals, toileting, vocational activities, and community-based learning experiences. Implement instructional strategies that support AAC, sensory regulation, mobility, positioning, feeding protocols, activities of daily living, and student independence. Provide structured, safe, and supportive learning environments that promote engagement, dignity, communication, functional academics, self-care, social interaction, community access, and daily living skills. Participate in intake, transition, Child Study Team, and interdisciplinary planning meetings to support student programming and services. Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
New York State Students with Disabilities Certification K - 12 Master's Degree in Special Education Thorough understanding of Students with Disabilities and the continuum of services. Knowledge of the Next Generation Learning Standards Knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Special Education programs.
