Job Description

Occupational Safety Group Leader Full-time Company Description As a world market leader in crop protection, we help farmers to counter these threats and ensure enough safe, nutritious, affordable food for all -while minimizing the use of land and other agricultural inputs. Syngenta Crop Protection keeps plants safe from planting to harvesting. From the moment a seed is planted through to harvest, crops need to be protected from weeds, insects and diseases as well as droughts and floods, heat and cold. Syngenta Crop Protection is headquartered in Switzerland. The Occupational Safety Group Leader will direct the development and implementation of comprehensive safety strategies, policies, and training programs. This role will oversee day-to-day safety compliance, assess risks, and lead incident prevention efforts to support zero-accident culture. You will lead a small team of safety, security, and training specialists and serve as the main point of contact for occupational safety matters. Job Description Lead and mentor a team of safety, security, and training professionals, setting departmental goals and providing management and direction to support business objectives Ensure all site operations comply with Federal, State, Local, and OSHA standards as well as company Codes of Practice and Life Saving Rules Foster a collaborative environment between the safety group and operational teams Conduct regular safety audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), hazard inspections, and behavioral observations to identify and rectify risky conditions Ensure the effective execution of critical occupational safety programs (e.g. Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and confined space entries, fall protection, etc) Emergency and Contingency Program planning Prepare and deliver site training materials and presentations as needed Lead
OSHA VPP
Program and reporting Lead and/or review root cause analysis for incidents/near misses, ensuring robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence Develop and implement Occupational Safety Policies and Programs Monitor workplace conditions and compliance with company and regulatory requirements Manage/support budget and financial cost center Review and approval of safety elements of capital projects Ensure health of site Safety Committees Support Rewards and Recognition Team Lead/support site internal audit program Prepare and track safety KPIs and metrics Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related discipline highly preferred, but will consider commensurate experience 5-8 years of experience leading occupational safety programs and compliance within the chemical/petrochemical manufacturing industry preferred Leadership experience for large facility of 700+ employees is desirable Professional Certification in Safety is desirable
