OTR Occupational Therapy License Full Job Description SUMMARY :
Evaluates students to determine their functional levels and identify special needs. Plan and implement therapeutic activities to assist special education students to benefit from their educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
. Other duties may be assigned. Implementation of IEP goals; program planning and management Provide training to the appropriate persons to carry over therapy goals in the school setting Equipment, assistive technology maintenance, room maintenance Program services include: self help, functional mobility, environmental adaptations/adaptive equipment, positioning, motor functions, sensory processing, pre-vocational/vocational skills Function as a team members on Child Find, evaluation and IEP teams, and maintain contact with school personnel, families/guardians, physicians and outside agencies Works with the Student Support Team to determine screening, RtI, observation and evaluation needs. Collaborates with the special education team for reassessment to develop individual plans through general education and/or special education Stay updated, informed and knowledgeable regarding OT policies and procedures Maintain OT schedule to provide services/treatment to students, consultation to staff and families/guardians and time for evaluations Maintain required service documentation, Medicaid reporting and progress on goals and objectives Follow all district guidelines and procedures Attend required professional development and distinct level meetings Report to the Special Education Director
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES RELATED TO CULTURAL COMPETENCE AND EQUITY
Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others. Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and partners of the District. Has demonstrated experience as a leader for equity and/or has evidence of success in closing opportunity gaps for students of color. Ability to nurture a school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity, where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises students and may supervise paraprofessionals to carry out therapy goals in school setting

Certification by National Registration Exam.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
License from the State of Michigan to practice Occupational Therapy
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS and

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
