Class:
This is a professional position involving responsibility for evaluation, planning, and providing occupational therapy treatment to students in accordance with written prescription or referral from a physician who provides medical direction. Supervision is received from the Director or PPS with leeway in carrying out the details of the work. Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. The employee does related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapist and maintenance of such license throughout appointment.
Typical Work Activities:
Conduct formal assessments of each child as well as ongoing informal assessments in the classroom and conferring and collaborating with teachers and other paraprofessionals. Interpret assessments in order to determine the level of functioning and the needs of each child Utilizing a variety of activities to meet students' needs as determined by your informal and formal assessments Maintain communication with classroom teachers and parents about the progress of the students Attend regular team meetings prepared with information about the relevant students. Develop Progress Reports on each student in conjunction with classroom teachers and other team members; preparing documents, when necessary, for CSE and CE meetings and, if applicable, impartial hearings Create ongoing plans consistent with Progress Report goals for each child Maintain session notes for billing and tracking purposes

Based on the Naples Teacher Association Contract, commensurate with experience
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Good knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of occupational therapy; good knowledge of the operation and minor maintenance of apparatus and equipment used in occupational therapy; working knowledge of community resources available to support or supplement the occupational therapy program; ability to evaluate, plan and execute treatments for patients; ability to plan and oversee the work of others; ability to get along well with others; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Naples Central School is accepting applications for a full-time, 10-month Occupational Therapist position. This position will cover multiple locations within a school setting. Job Qualifications NYS Certification required
