Job Description

Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling opportunity as an Occupational Therapist working with school-age populations and experience the impact of your expertise in an engaging educational environment. This full-time, contract position is set for the 2026-2027 school year in the Independence, Kansas area, focusing on providing vital OT services within school settings. The specific caseload will be provided shortly.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Occupational Therapist license in Kansas (or eligibility to obtain) Previous experience working in schools, home health, or healthcare environments Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Familiarity with IEP processes and individualized interventions for diverse student needs Ability to adapt therapy techniques to various school-based settings Organizational skills to manage documentation and scheduling effectively
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine students' functional needs in the educational environment Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy plans geared toward promoting student success and independence Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and support IEP goals Maintain detailed progress records and comply with documentation requirements in a timely manner Offer consultative support and training to staff regarding best practices for promoting student participation Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing program development By working in this setting, you'll support students' academic and personal growth directly, foster greater independence, and contribute to a vibrant school community.
