Job Description
What You'll Be Doing Do you want to make a meaningful impact in your community? Join a purpose-driven team in Wake County's Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization Department. We are seeking an Office Assistant to support daily operations for the Permanent Housing and Supportive Services Division at both the Cornerstone Center and Oak City Cares locations. The Office Assistant plays a crucial role as an integral part of the Cornerstone Center, as well as the Oak City Cares office spaces. The Cornerstone Center offers 20 units of bridge housing for individuals experiencing literal homelessness with moderate to severe service needs. Oak City Cares is home to programs that facilitate permanent supportive housing case management and rental assistance. Both locations are staffed by highly qualified teams that deliver high-quality supportive services to a vulnerable population. This position is based at both locations and serves as the first point of contact representing the agency and assisting clients and service providers as they enter the facilities.
Essential Functions:
Maintain records, update databases/spreadsheets, and generate reports associated with work activities Greet and direct visitors, answer and direct calls, take messages, and handle routine inquiries Manage calendars, schedules, and front desk coverage at the Cornerstone Center and Oak City Cares locations Submit GSA service requests and oversee fleet maintenance Monitor Oak City Cares water levels and notify appropriate staff Monitor supply inventory, research cost-effective options, and coordinate purchasing of required supplies Scan documents, including paper charts and TFS files Handle faxed record requests and monitor RightFax Create fillable PDF forms and support office workflows Prepare and format correspondence, reports, forms, meeting notes, and other documents; compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities Perform other duties as assigned About Our Team Wake County Department of Housing's goal is to ensure that quality affordable housing is available for all Wake County residents. Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, housing services must be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing. Affordable housing is also critical to preserving Wake County's economic competitiveness by offering housing for workers at all income levels, supporting housing stability and economic opportunity for its residents, and furthering Wake County's commitment to healthy and inclusive growth. The Department's programs include Community Revitalization, Development Financing, Rental Assistance, Homeless Services, Community Outreach, Emergency Shelter, and Permanent Supportive Housing. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) High school diploma or GED One year of administrative/office support experience Equivalent education and experience are accepted Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume. Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Possess a high level of proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, the county intranet, NCFAST, Clarity, Teams and computer desktop navigation Previous administrative support experience in a Health and Human Services, Social Services, or non-profit organization How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
