RIGGER:
Gulf of Mexico Platforms/Vessels- Offshore
  • Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction project. Work locations may vary (offshore). Duties And Responsibilities
  • Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook.
  • Gives directions to personnel engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or telephone.
  • Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.
  • Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Basic Qualifications Workers should be able to:
  • Direct or plan an activity; Attain set limits or standards;
  • Do simple arithmetic accurately; and make decisions based on measurable standards.
  • Physically, workers must be able to: See well (naturally or with correction);
  • Climb and/or maintain balance; Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; Reach for, handle, and manipulate objects;
  • Lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds or more, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more; and work at heights.
  • Work offshore on a scheduled rotation (rotation durations are not guaranteed).
  • Provide your own transportation to and from the crew change locations.
  • Work in remote locations with very limited access to telephones.
  • Be flexible in order to work any available position.
  • Perform the essential functions of your job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Live and work in confined spaces with others.
  • Follow company regulations regarding personal hygiene.
  • Travel by helicopter or crew boat to the work sites.
  • Wear approved, steel-toed, skid and oil resistant shoes while at work.
  • Work holidays, if scheduled.
  • Understand no jewelry while working.
  • Must be able to read and write and understand Taylors International Services' Safety Policies and Procedures for your own safety.
  • Apply for a passport if needed
  • Pass a post-offer/pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Complete Taylors International Services' orientation and complete all HSE training components in a timely manner as directed by the HSE department
  • Successfully Complete Water Survival Course (HUET/MET5) and our customers' training courses.
  • Live and work in a smoke-free environment for duration of hitch.
Please take into consideration that this position is an offshore position. You will be required to work in remote locations with very limited access to telephones for several weeks at a time. You must provide your own transportation to the crew change locations, which range anywhere from Galveston, TX, to Mobile, AL.Crew changes are usually in the early morning hours (5am-6am).
  • In order to be considered for the position, each applicant must possess a valid TWIC card. The TWIC card is to be purchased at the employees' expense and will not be paid for by Taylors International Services.
  • Merchant Mariner Credential is highly desired, but not required for consideration You must certify that: You are not afraid of heights, flying, or flying in a helicopter.
You are not afraid of water, the ocean, and that you know how to swim. You have worked offshore and have offshore experience.
