Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Medical Readiness Program. Manage policies and procedures to ensure accomplishment of programs and to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work. Develop and provide local Medical Disaster Program guidance to wing units including appropriate medical response and survival under a variety of emergency situations. Establishes plans, organization, systems and controls to provide for proper operations of a Medical Control Center in the event of an emergency. Coordinates Military Treatment Facility's in country and state-wide disaster preparedness exercises and disaster responses. Research and determine or recommend actions or interpretation of issues that impact the organization. Manage or consult on all medical homeland security programs and plan for the Miliary Treatment Facility with the Air Force Base, other installations, and the local community. Presents clear, concise and well-structured oral presentations that address the designated issues to peers on committees. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Medical Readiness Specialist:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes providing medical disaster guidance for a variety of emergency situations; developing criteria for exercising contingency response plans; and monitoring emergency response program operations to ensure action requirements are met. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education:

Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Emergency Management.

OR Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in
