POSITION SUMMARY
The cancer Genetic Counselor will evaluate your family health history and talk about risks for inherited cancer, as well as screening and management for those at increased risk. Individuals in this position will work in the Spencer Cancer Center providing genetic counseling services to patients and families under the leadership of the Physician's, Program Manager and Administrative Director. Patient and provider genetics education are an essential part of the job.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree with requisite certification in Genetic Counseling Minimum Experience 2-5 years Genetic Counseling experience Required Registration/License/Certification Board Certified or board eligibility by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) or Advanced Genetics Nursing Certification (AGN-BC) or Advanced Clinical Genomics Nurse (ACGN) credentials from the Nurse Portfolio Credentialing Commission (NPCC) or Clinical Genomics Nurse (CGN) credentials from the Nurse Portfolio Credentialing Commission (NPCC) Advanced practice oncology nurse or physician assistant with specialized education in cancer genetics and hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes, such as Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) credentials, or equivalent certification from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC ) or Registered nurse with specialized certification in cancer genetics and hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes such certifications include City of Hope Course in Genomic Cancer Risk or National Consortium of Breast Center's (NCBC) Certification in Cancer Genetics and Risk Assessment (CGRA) Licensed to work in the State of Alabama Preferred Education Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling Preferred Experience 5-10 years Genetic Counseling experience Preferred Registration/License/Certification N/A Other Requirements N/A
