The Air & Ocean Import Agent is responsible for the end-to-end coordination and execution of international air and ocean import shipments through LAX. This role ensures shipments are processed accurately, compliantly, and on time, while providing proactive and professional communication to customers, overseas partners, airlines, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities- Manage air and ocean import shipments from pre-alert through final delivery
- Review and process MAWB/HAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists, and related documentation
- Coordinate with airlines, ground handlers, CFS warehouses, truckers, and customs brokers
- Monitor arrivals, freight availability, customs clearance, and delivery milestones
- Track and trace shipments; proactively identify and escalate delays or issues
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agency requirements
- Maintain organized, accurate shipment files within the operating system
- Provide timely, professional shipment updates to customers and overseas agents
- Verify vendor invoices and ensure accurate billing data is entered
- Assist with cargo damage or discrepancy claims when required Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in air import operations within freight forwarding or logistics
- Strong understanding of air import documentation and processing workflows
- Familiarity with U.S. customs clearance procedures
- Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency with freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience handling air and ocean imports
- Experience with CargoWise or similar TMS platforms
- Exposure to FDA, USDA, or other PGA-regulated shipments
- Additional language skills (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish) are considered an asset. What Success Looks Like
