Future Vacancy Direct Reporting to: Director of Operations Dotted-line Reporting to: Director of Purchasing The Operations & Inventory Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day flow of materials, production planning, and inventory control within the Moultrie, Georgia facility (Industrial Lumber Sales / ILS). This position is responsible for coordinating shipping & receiving activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production scheduling to ensure efficient and timely operations, and facilitating the implementation and use of an Inventory Management System. This role acts as a central link between yard operations, production, sales, and logistics—ensuring that lumber movement, documentation, and scheduling are aligned with customer requirements and operational capacity. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment with a strong focus on accuracy, communication, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping & Receiving Coordination Coordinate and validate daily inbound and outbound shipments of lumber and materials. Schedule and confirm pickups and deliveries with carriers and internal teams. Ensure accurate and timely completion of shipping and receiving documentation. Verify shipments against orders, ensuring product accuracy and proper tagging. Inventory Control Facilitate the successful implementation and use of an Inventory Management System (TallyWorks). Maintain accurate inventory records within TallyWorks. Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits and reconciliation. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in collaboration with Operations and Finance. Ensure proper product identification, labeling, and storage practices (FIFO where applicable). Monitor inventory levels and flag shortages or overstock situations based on set MIN/MAX levels. Production Scheduling & Planning Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules to support On Time In Full shipments according to the shipping schedule Monitor workflow and adjust schedules based on customer orders, shipping priorities, capacity, material availability, and operational constraints. Planning of remanufacturing or rework orders where applicable. Provide visibility on production status and potential delays. Monitor and report on production KPIs and inventory metrics to support management decisions. Cross-Functional Communication Act as a liaison between Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and Logistics. Provide timely updates on order status, inventory levels, and shipment & production schedules. Collaborate with Sales to support customer delivery expectations. Communicate issues proactively and recommend solutions. Quality & Process Improvement Ensure accuracy in documentation, inventory transactions, and shipment processing. Identify opportunities for process optimization and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Support implementation of standardized procedures and best practices. Act as a Champion of the Inventory Management System (TallyWorks). Health & Safety Adhere to and promote all Weston Forest safety policies and procedures. Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately. Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education & Certification Post-secondary education in Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred. Health & Safety training or certification is an asset. Lean Six Sigma Certification is an asset. Experience 2-5 years of experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control, production coordination or logistics Experience in lumber, forestry, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred. Hands-on experience with yard or warehouse operations is a strong asset. Technical Proficiency Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Experience with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., TallyWorks). Familiarity with shipping documentation and logistics coordination. Physical Environment:
Combination of office work and time spent in yard/warehouse environments.
