Job Dimensions Copperhead is seeking an Operator to operate the production facilities and support equipment for the manufacture of explosives, hazardous chemicals, pharmaceutical products, and related items in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedures. This job demands continuous and consistent attention to detail and conformance with company policies. This is a full-time, union position with opportunities for overtime. Activities Operate equipment and support facilities for the manufacture of explosives and pharmaceuticals in accordance with standard operating procedures and batch production records. Strive to maximize equipment run time and achieve daily production goals. Monitors and performs product quality and takes appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent or limit production. Prepare packaging and apply labels and markings to material containers. Move drums of materials and finished products into and out of the manufacturing area. Maintain housekeeping in and around the manufacturing facilities. Complete logbooks. Responsible for meeting standard batch times while maintaining safety and quality. Department of Transportation hazmat employee function specific tasks. Other duties as assigned Accountability Follow all quality policies and production procedures to ensure quality products are produced. Continuous attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality. Timely and cost-effective completion of projects and activities. Adhere to corporate policies. Participate in Safety initiatives and take ownership for improving Safety by correcting any deficiencies that are within the capability to do so. Preferred Qualifications / Experience Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following all policies and procedures and acting in a safe manner at all times. Knowledge of standard operating procedures, batch records and requirements associated with typical duties. Knowledge of Process Safety Management, plant safety, Department of Transportation and Good Manufacturing Practices requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. Flexibility to work other shifts as production demands. High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience. Working Conditions Hands on position which involves heavy lifting, pushing, climbing stairs, walking on uneven surfaces and exposure to explosives, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and inclement weather. Duties require time spent in a manufacturing plant setting in-doors and out-doors. A minimum of the following physical abilities is required: ability to operate building equipment, to write, drive, walk, sit, stand, climb and lift and/or move drums and pallets. Employment Requirements Copperhead employment is contingent upon a current valid driver's license and acceptable results of a pre-employment physical exam including drug and alcohol screening, PA State Police criminal record background check and Explosives Employee Possessor background clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.
