OPTICAL ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN SUMMARY
We are seeking an Optical Technician to support hands-on production and assembly of fiber-optic components in a bench and lab-based manufacturing environment. This role focuses on precision optical assembly, fiber preparation and splicing, and testing of optical assemblies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient, and comfortable performing fine-motor work under tight tolerances. This position offers structured training, long-term growth potential, and exposure to R D and prototyping activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble and build fiber-optic components including combiners, couplers, and multicore fiber fanouts. Prepare, splice, and assemble optical fibers into finished optical assemblies. Work from schematics, drawings, and written work instructions to complete assemblies accurately. Perform testing of optical assemblies using optical sources and detectors. Maintain accurate documentation of process data and build records using basic computer systems. Follow established procedures while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail. Collaborate with team members and mentors in a structured training and production environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-on experience with precision or bench-level assembly in a manufacturing, lab, or cleanroom environment. Experience with fusion splicing, fiber preparation or polishing (preferred) Exposure to optical systems, laser systems, interferometry, or precision electronics (preferred) Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills suitable for working with small, delicate components. Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, or technical work instructions. Understanding of basic measurement principles, tolerances, and unit conversions (µm, mm, cm, in). Comfortable using a computer for basic documentation and data entry. Demonstrated patience, focus, adaptability, and attention to detail. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
