• Full-time Beaufort Eye Center is a busy adult ophthalmology practice with three practicing surgeons and two medical optometrists.

Optician Duties:

• Assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription and personal preferences.
• Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes, including pupillary distance,and seg heights, to ensure proper fit of eyewear.
• Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists to determine the appropriate lenses and frames for customers.
• Adjust and repair eyewear as needed, including replacing nose pads, temple tips, and screws.
• Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance.
• Process orders for eyewear, including verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations.
• Maintain accurate records of customer information, prescriptions, and sales transactions.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology.
• Notifying patients on status of eyewear
• Answering phones, scheduling appointments as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in opticianry preferred.
• Previous experience as an optician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of optical systems and equipment used in the fitting of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Familiarity with senior care practices and understanding of the unique needs of elderly patients.
• Proficiency in medical records management and medical billing procedures.
• Experience working with electronic health record systems such as Revolution is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with a high level of accuracy.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique to ensure cleanliness and safety when handling eyewear.
• Basic understanding of retail math principles for pricing, discounts, and sales calculations.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
