Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician and Medical Receptionist, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care services. In this multifaceted position, you will be the friendly face greeting patients, managing their intake, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. You will assist with pre-testing procedures, maintain accurate medical records, and support the clinical team with vital signs and patient care. Your proactive approach and organizational skills will help create a welcoming environment that prioritizes patient comfort and safety. Responsibilities Welcome patients warmly, verify their information, and efficiently handle intake processes using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic. Obtain and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, and vision measurements, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Assist optometrists during eye examinations by performing pre-test procedures and managing medical records with precision. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical documentation and records. Support clinic operations by scheduling appointments, managing front desk duties, and handling retail sales of eyewear products with retail math skills. Ensure a clean, organized clinical environment by practicing proper aseptic techniques and maintaining medical supplies. Collaborate with the team on ophthalmology-related tasks, including understanding basic physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and ophthalmic procedures. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is highly preferred. Knowledge of ophthalmology practices, optical experience, or retail sales experience is advantageous. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical coding, and billing processes. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms to document patient interactions accurately. Excellent patient care skills with a friendly demeanor that puts patients at ease. Ability to perform vital signs measurement and assist with clinical procedures following aseptic techniques. Basic knowledge of pediatrics is a plus to support diverse patient needs.
