Orderly-ED Hurley Medical Center - 3.8 Flint, MI Job Details Full-time 3 hours ago Qualifications Records maintenance BLS Certification English Wheelchair mobility assistance High school diploma or GED Emotional support for patients Patient interaction Patient stretchers Full Job Description Transports patients between service areas/nursing units, attends to the comfort of patients, delivers equipment and supplies, and assists in maintaining a neat and presentable department. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the direct supervision of the departmental director/manager or designee who reviews work for conformance with established standards and policies. Transports patients safely and efficiently between service areas/nursing units. Lifts, transfers, and assists patients into chairs, wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds. Attends to patient comfort by supplying pillows, blankets, equipment, and supplies. Picks up from and delivers to their appropriate destinations various items such as equipment, supplies, linen (soiled & clean), mail, and laboratory specimens. Applies oxygen tanks to patients as instructed. Monitors, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment, supplies, stretchers, wheelchairs, etc. Reports malfunctions to immediate supervisor or designee. Assists in scrubbing and/or shaving patients preparatory to surgery. Maintains work area/department in clean and orderly condition. Stocks linen and supplies. Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react effectively and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of patient age groups served. Performs other related duties as assigned. Utilizes new improvements and/or technologies that relate to job assignment. High school graduate and/or GED equivalent. Sufficient strength to lift moderately heavy objects and to push patients in wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds. Ability to read, write, and comprehend English and accurately document activities. Ability to learn institutional techniques, practices, and regulations. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to keep required records and make reports. Ability to maintain an empathetic attitude toward patients and harmonious relationships with patients, physicians, employees and the public. Must obtain BLS certification upon start of position and must maintain certification per AHA guidelines.
