Job Description

Duties may involve any or all of these, plus additional duties: Pre-Construction Inspection Services performed by Quality OSP Inspectors Verifying the correctness of material listing, scheduling, etc. and verifying the availability of material for the jobs. (This does not include any Ordering of material). Meet with OSP engineering personnel at job locations to assist in pre-design coordination. Suggest alternative placing methods to improve cost efficiency of the OSP Supplier.
  • Investigate material discrepancies and assist in reconciling the differences. Pre-survey jobs to identify roadblocks and assure that jobs can be worked as engineered.
  • Verify required permits to perform work are on site.
  • Attend site visits with potential construction Suppliers on projects.
During and After Construction Inspection Services associated with Quality Inspectors Meet with customers and investigate customer complaints, right of way discrepancies, damages, etc. Coordinate job changes with responsible engineering entity supervisors as needed. Investigate material discrepancies between OSP records and placed facilities and assist in reconciling the differences.
  • Follow up to ensure that Services are performed in accordance with permits. Coordinate with OSP construction Suppliers on municipal, county, and state agency requirements (e.g., work area protection, bore profile logs, etc.). Verify OSP construction Supplier billing quantities, noting changes from design and any errors. Additional Expectations
  • The Supplier will use qualified employees to perform all Services functions to ensure a quality job. Minimum qualifications include understanding OSP construction practices and processes, understanding OSP utility workprints, and identifying and differentiating between OSP facilities.
  • The Quality Control Inspector must have a means of visually documenting Services that is reviewed and email capabilities for such documents and other correspondence.
  • The Quality Control Inspector must have tools when needed and safety equipment and understand proper use.
This includes hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, foreign voltage tester, manhole hooks, socket set (used to open handholes, cabinets, and meter boxes), hammer, pull finder and measuring wheel. Inspectors must dress appropriately at all times, in appropriate attire including any required safety gear. A "working day" is defined as Monday through Friday of any week, not inclusive of holidays recognized by the company. Types of Inspections 1. 100% Inspection
  • Inspections to determine if the plant was placed in accordance with standard utility construction guidelines. These inspections will be performed on all the Services done on an individual engineered utility construction job. 2. Census Inspection
  • Inspections performed on a specific item of plant (e.g., anchors) to see if a problem exists either with the material or the placing process. These are performed on an "As needed" basis. 3. Verification Inspection
  • Inspections performed to determine if there is a difference between the number of units of an item of plant proposed and the number of units of the same item of plant placed. 4. Damage Inspection
  • Inspections performed to determine the reason for damage to outside plant facilities and to gather available information. 5. Job Status Inspections
  • Inspections performed on a job site, that occurs during pre
  • construction and in progress construction, to determine if roadblocks exist, if job site is ready to begin Services or if Services in progress is proceeding as planned. 6. Customer Complaint Inspection
  • Inspections performed to determine the reason for a customer complaint and to gather information necessary for company personnel to address customer complaints.
