Pacifica:
A Garden in the Siskiyous is hiring instructors for Outdoor School and other Educational Programs!Outdoor School dates:
April 13th -15th, April 15th-17th, April 21st-24th, April 28th-30th, May 6th-8th, May 12th-14th, May 18th-20th, May 20th-22nd, May 26th-29th and June 2nd- 5th. Plus a day of paid training. Options of working in other educational programs for Pacifica on the other school days)Compensation:
$19+/hr DOE Pacifica's Outdoor School program works with 5th and 6th-grade students in an outdoor setting, teaching a range of ecological and environmental concepts, leading hikes and games, and exploring our many connections to the outdoors. In addition to primary instructional activities scheduled during the day, there are additional evening program and overnight chaperone opportunities. We are also interested in instructors with skills to contribute to our creative elective classes (e.g. wood-working, art, or your area of expertise).Requirements:
- Interest in working with children
- Ability to work and travel by foot in the outdoors
- Ability to pass a background check
- Experience as an educator preferred

Pacifica Outdoor School (PODS) is a program that provides state-funded, overnight outdoor learning experiences to 5th and 6th graders. Outdoor School is for everyone. We strive for every student to develop curiosity; inquiry and observation skills; ecological understanding; gratitude; and an enhanced connection to self, community, and nature. We are committed to creating an environment where each person can be themselves and belong. PODS staff is a group of fun, adventurous people who have the passion to make a difference by working with the youth in the outdoors!POSITION SUMMARY
You will be provided a curriculum and training to help lead fun, educational activities such as exploring creeks and ponds, nature hikes, implementing a challenge course, etc.. You will be paired up with a teaching partner and a group of 15 students for each 3-day session or 4-day session. Currently we need a night staff person working from 4pm to 10pm or the option of 4pm to 8:30am.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead day and or overnight programs at Pacifica
- Accommodate the needs of all youth
- Implement and improve student-centered curriculum and programming, including ecology-based field studies, campfire, student electives, social emotional learning activities, and community building We strongly encourage you to apply if you are interested in the position, even if you do not believe that you meet all of the qualifications.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest in or experience creating equitable and inclusive environments, working with youth, leading day or overnight outdoor programs, and implementing engaging curriculum and activities
- Ability to lead outdoor learning and community building experiences that are sensitive to students' needs, interests, life experiences, identities, and abilities
