Outpatient Counselor

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outpatient Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive outpatient mental health services, including individual counseling and potentially couples or family counseling to diverse populations. Your expertise will help clients navigate their mental health challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical terminology and ICD coding standards (ICD-9, ICD-10) to determine appropriate treatment plans. Deliver evidence-based therapies such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma therapy, and art therapy tailored to each client's needs. Facilitate individual counseling sessions focusing on various issues. Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during acute episodes. Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical records and documentation accurately reflecting patient care activities while ensuring confidentiality. Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to provide remote counseling services, expanding access for clients in various locations. Experience Proven experience in clinical counseling or mental health therapy within outpatient or clinic settings. Must be independently licensed in the state of Tennessee. Experience counseling children/adolescents is preferred, but not required. Strong background in psychotherapy modalities. Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical documentation standards. Experience conducting intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations using standardized tools. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques along with skills in crisis management and behavior management strategies.
