Job Description

Position Summary PCS Crane Services is seeking an experienced Overhead Crane Fabricator / Welder / Factory Manager to oversee daily factory operations while remaining actively involved in the fabrication, welding, repair, and assembly of overhead crane systems and related equipment. This role is a critical leadership position requiring strong technical expertise, organizational skills, and the ability to manage people, projects, and production schedules to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency. Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication & Welding Fabricate, assemble, and modify overhead crane components, structures, runways, and lifting equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Perform structural welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) on carbon steel and other materials as required. Conduct repairs and refurbishments of overhead cranes and related equipment. Ensure all fabrication and welding work meets applicable OSHA, CMAA, AWS, and company quality standards. Factory & Production Management Manage daily shop and factory operations, including workflow, scheduling, and job prioritization. Coordinate production timelines to meet customer commitments and project deadlines. Review work orders, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to fabrication. Maintain oversight of inventory, tooling, and equipment to ensure readiness and efficiency. Work closely with project managers, service teams, and field technicians to ensure seamless handoff between shop and field operations. Quality & Safety Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety requirements. Conduct inspection and quality checks throughout fabrication and assembly processes. Address non‑conformances and lead corrective actions when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. Leadership & Supervision Supervise, train, and mentor shop personnel, fabricators, and welders. Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and provide technical guidance as needed. Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of shop employees. Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. Administrative & Coordination Duties Assist with estimating labor and materials for fabrication projects. Communicate project status, risks, and changes to management. Support warranty repairs, inspections, and documentation as needed. Maintain fabrication records, certifications, and compliance documentation. Qualifications Minimum 2-5 years of experience in overhead crane fabrication, welding, or heavy industrial manufacturing. Strong knowledge of overhead crane systems, structural steel fabrication, and lifting equipment. Proven welding experience and ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints. Prior experience in a supervisory or management role preferred. Familiarity with OSHA, CMAA, and AWS standards. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work hands‑on in a shop environment while managing multiple projects and personnel. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in an industrial environment. Comfortable working around heavy machinery and fabrication equipment.
