Overnight Camp Driver In 1887, John Ames Mitchell, editor of Life magazine, raised $800 to send 266 children from New York City to the Life Fresh Air Farm in Branchville, Connecticut. Since that first summer, thousands of children and teens have participated in life-changing experiences at our nature-based summer camp and after-school programs in New York and New Jersey. Summary of Position The Driver is responsible for supporting the transport needs of our program, which may include transporting children, staff and property. This role requires a strong focus on safety, punctuality, and excellent communication skills.

Driving may take place:

On camp property: transporting program materials. Always observing the 5 mph limit In the local area: Sussex county, NJ and surrounding Tri-State areas, including Appalachian Trail Into the city: Trips to the Trail Blazers office in Brooklyn NY. Essential Functions Safely operate camp vehicles, including a 15-seater van Transport campers and staff to scheduled destinations Support camp staff with loading and unloading of supplies Perform vehicle safety drills and maintain required compliance documentation Be an active participant in camp emergency action plans (lost camper, medical emergencies) Track mileage for each trip and maintain vehicle fuel levels Support the property management team to perform routine vehicle inspection & maintenance Other duties as assigned Job Specifications Must hold a full clean drivers license, without penalty endorsements Must be at least 21 years of age Must have a valid drivers license for 5+ years Ability to tow a trailer - desired but not required Willingness to undergo in depth screenings including drivers license and background checks Willingness to be flexible and adapt to ongoing changes Confidence to drive in varied weather conditions, daytime, night time and for extended hours
