As the Production and Quality Control Specialist at Shoalwater Seafood, you will be a positive, self-motivated, and hardworking individual ready to take on a key leadership role in the shellfish industry. Tokeland and surrounding areas in Willapa Bay Position Overview As the Lead Production and Quality Control Specialist at Shoalwater Seafood, you will be a positive, self-motivated, and hardworking individual ready to take on a key leadership role in the shellfish industry. You will be responsible for both performing and overseeing high-quality product sorting and ensuring efficient operations within our processing plant. In this role, you will lead our final packing fulfillment and shipping label printing, while maintaining a consistent production pace and adhering to strict safety and sanitation guidelines. Additionally, you will play a vital role outside the packhouse by helping maintain our FLUPSY and Wet Storage systems, and occasionally joining the farm team out on the water for harvests.
Key Responsibilities Hands-on Production:
Inspect, grade, sort, and pack seafood products according to company quality standards and market specifications. Perform tasks involving live shellfish.
Shipping & Fulfillment Tech:
Operate shipping and inventory software to process orders, verify accuracy, and print logistics/carrier labels.
Team Leadership:
Help guide the production team to maintain a consistent sorting and packing pace, ensuring daily fulfillment goals are met without sacrificing quality. System Maintenance (FLUPSY & Wet Storage): Perform routine monitoring, cleaning, and upkeep of the FLUPSY (Floating Upweller System) and Wet Storage systems to ensure optimal water flow, sanitation, and shellfish health.
Field & Harvest Support:
Occasionally step out of the processing plant to assist the farm crew with outdoor field operations, including shellfish harvests and gear maintenance.
Equipment & Safety:
Operate and maintain production equipment safely and efficiently. Report any equipment in need of repairs to management.
Sanitation & Compliance:
Assist with general maintenance and cleaning tasks for a commercial operation, adhering to HACCP, SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), and Department of Health (DOH) standards.
Safety Adherence:
Adhere to all safety requirements, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and report any unsafe acts or conditions. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Inventory & Communication:
Communicate material and supply levels to ensure smooth operations.
Team Culture:
Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment. Provide backup support for other duties as needed and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience:
Prior experience in seafood processing, aquaculture, agriculture, or warehouse fulfillment is highly preferred, but we are willing to train a highly motivated individual with strong leadership potential.

Autonomy & Teamwork:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team dynamic to efficiently get the job done.
Tech Literacy:
Comfortable using computers, tablets, or software systems to manage and print shipping labels. Experience with radio frequency handheld scanners is a plus.
Food Safety Knowledge:
Understanding of food processing equipment, sanitation, and food safety principles (HACCP/SSOP awareness preferred).
Water & Dock Safety:
Comfortable working on docks, around floating structures (FLUPSY), and occasionally traveling on boats for harvests.
Communication:
Must be able to speak and understand English and communicate respectfully with co-workers and supervisors.
Reliability:
Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is essential.
Age Requirement:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Licensing:
Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Certifications (Preferred): Forklift certification and experience with powered pallet jacks are preferred. Physical Demands This is an active job. Applicants should be able to regularly lift and handle 50 pounds without difficulty and be able to work in a physically challenging environment. Position requires exerting up to 20-70 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Movement includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Requires manual dexterity, repetitive motion, talking, and hearing. Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and perform repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation. Ability to reach, extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction, and grasp objects. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to determine accuracy and thoroughness of work.
Working Conditions Hybrid Environment:
Working primarily in an indoor refrigerated environment, but comfort working outdoors on docks and open water in inclement conditions is required depending on site and system needs.
Flexible Schedule:
The schedule typically involves five days a week; however, individuals must be able to work flexible hours including some weekends and nights to accommodate production and market schedules.
Shift Length:
Typical shifts may include 8, 10, or 12 hours, covering day, evening, or night shifts.
Environment Risks:
This position works in a production area processing different species of shellfish. Risk associated with lifting, sharp knives (cut risk), wet or uneven ground surfaces, and working over or around water.
Gear:
May be required to wear rain gear, boots, and gloves.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
Starting from $20.00 per hour or competitive rates, depending on experience (DOE).

Housing:
Short-term housing may be available on a limited basis.
