Packaging Mechanic Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Packaging Mechanic responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing packaging equipment to ensure efficient production operations. This role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting daily production through preventative and corrective maintenance. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on packaging machinery and equipment Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Diagnose equipment failures and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime Maintain and repair packaging lines, including conveyors, fillers, labelers, sealers, and palletizers Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify wear, defects, or potential issues Install, adjust, and calibrate packaging equipment for optimal performance Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment efficiency and reduce downtime Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or packaging mechanic in a manufacturing environment Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills Experience with packaging equipment such as fillers, wrappers, conveyors, or labeling machines Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics Familiarity with safety regulations and maintenance best practices Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Elmwood Park, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
