Job Title:
Packer Job Description The Packer works in a fast-paced cleanroom production environment, packing materials as they come off the production line, building boxes, and staging products for shipment. This role requires consistent attention to detail, the ability to work on your feet for extended periods, and a strong focus on quality and speed while following written work instructions and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities Pack materials as they come off the production machine, ensuring accuracy, quality, and correct quantities. Build and assemble boxes and other packaging materials to prepare products for shipment. Stage packed materials in designated areas for shipping in an organized and timely manner. Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high quality standards. Inspect small parts and packaged items for defects or inconsistencies and report any issues promptly. Follow cleanroom protocols, including proper gowning procedures and use of required personal protective equipment. Read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work orders to complete tasks correctly. Use a computer to pull up work instructions and other job-related documentation as needed. Communicate clearly and professionally with leads, supervisors, and other team members regarding work status, issues, or questions. Stand for long periods in the same position, with periodic rotation approximately every two hours as needed. Lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 30 pounds on a regular basis. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with cleanroom and safety requirements. Essential Skills Previous experience in packing within a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment. Ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds safely and repeatedly. Ability to stand for long periods of time in the same position, with flexibility to rotate tasks as needed. Experience working with small parts and performing basic inspection for quality and defects. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with leads, supervisors, and other team members. Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work orders accurately. Basic computer skills, including the ability to pull up and follow electronic work instructions. Comfort working at speed while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to adhere to cleanroom protocols and wear required cleanroom attire and personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a cleanroom or medical device manufacturing environment is highly beneficial. Experience in assembly or medical assembly, especially with small parts, is an advantage. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production demands in a fast-paced setting. Strong reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to meeting production schedules. Comfort working overnight or third-shift hours. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is on third shift, typically from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., in a medical device cleanroom production environment. The facility is temperature-controlled and designed to provide a comfortable and consistent working climate. You will work in a cleanroom where strict gowning and cleanliness protocols apply, including wearing hair nets, facial hair covers, eye protection, booties, and full cleanroom attire. You must be comfortable gowning up each shift and following all cleanroom procedures. The job may require sitting or standing for up to 11 hours a day, depending on production needs, and involves repetitive motions associated with packing and handling small parts. Dress code requires closed-toe shoes; no flip-flops are allowed in the cleanroom. You may wear shorts or pants under the cleanroom garments. Lockers are available so you can store personal items before entering the cleanroom. Personal protective equipment consists primarily of cleanroom attire provided on-site, supporting a safe, hygienic, and professional work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon Hills, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
