Job Title:
Assembler / Packer - 1st Shift Job Description This 1st shift role combines light mechanical assembly and packaging within a clean, high-tech manufacturing environment focused on automatic doors and related components. You will assemble and inspect parts to precise specifications, operate basic production equipment, and package finished products for shipment while meeting daily production and quality goals. Responsibilities Perform assembly and packaging tasks required in the manufacturing process of automatic doors and related components. Work from assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists to prepare work by gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Assemble sub-assemblies and components for correct fit, including headers, transoms, and door panels, according to established specifications. Package headers, transoms, door panels, and related products to established standards using appropriate materials. Operate saws, lathes, and drill presses to fabricate and assemble shaft and other components as required. Use basic hand tools, including wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers, to assemble and measure required parts. Review parts, sub-assemblies, and final products to ensure they meet quality and specification requirements. Verify specifications by measuring completed components and rejecting items that do not meet established quality standards. Prepare parts for painting by cleaning them and hanging them in the paint booth; perform light painting using aerosol spray cans when needed. Operate various production equipment, including weigh scales, staple guns, bagging machines, and thermo printers. Operate powered industrial trucks, manual pallet jacks, gantry hoists, and other material handling equipment to move materials safely. Inspect unassembled materials to ensure proper quantity, quality, finish, shape, and components as requested by the customer. Retrieve and package parts using appropriate packaging materials such as bubble wrap, paper, cardboard, wooden crates, and skids. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor or appropriate internal contact. Use a PC for assembly-related tasks and to support production and quality reporting. Communicate with internal engineering and customer support teams regarding customer complaints, concerns, and product issues. Resolve assembly problems by adjusting or altering dimensions to meet specifications and notifying the supervisor when additional resources are needed. Complete preventive maintenance tasks on equipment by following manufacturer instructions and troubleshooting basic malfunctions; request repairs when necessary. Maintain accurate and timely documentation by completing production and quality forms and related records. Manage materials and supplies effectively by checking inventory levels, anticipating needs, placing or expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies. Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to accomplish production results. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, regulations, and prescribed safety practices. Keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly on a regular basis. Contribute to team results by supporting coworkers, meeting daily production requirements, and focusing on quality and on-time delivery. Ensure effective and efficient materials management and timely, accurate reporting of production and quality data. Essential Skills Hands-on assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Packing and packaging experience, including selecting appropriate packaging materials and methods. Production environment experience with the ability to meet daily output and quality requirements. Ability to read and follow assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble components and adjust dimensions to meet specifications. Experience using basic hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers. Ability to inspect parts and products for quantity, quality, finish, shape, and correct components. Basic measuring skills to verify component dimensions against specifications. Ability to operate production equipment such as saws, lathes, drill presses, weigh scales, staple guns, bagging machines, and thermo printers. Ability to operate material handling equipment, including powered industrial trucks, manual pallet jacks, and gantry hoists. Reliability, dependability, and strong attention to detail. Capability to work accurately in a higher-pressure, fast-paced environment. High school diploma or GED. Prior shipping and assembly experience. Basic PC skills for assembly-related tasks and documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assembling headers, transoms, door panels, or similar mechanical or structural components. Experience preparing parts for painting and performing light painting with aerosol spray cans. Background in quality control, including identifying defects and documenting nonconformances. Experience in materials management, including monitoring inventory levels and coordinating supply replenishment. Ability to communicate effectively with internal engineering and customer support teams. Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean, orderly work area and accurate production records. Demonstrated dependability and consistent attendance. Comfort working with both manual and powered tools and equipment in a manufacturing setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time 1st shift position, Monday through Friday, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility on start and end times when business needs allow. The facility is a clean, high-tech manufacturing environment with a focus on precision and quality. You will regularly use basic hand tools, production machinery such as saws, lathes, drill presses, and packaging and weighing equipment, as well as material handling equipment including powered industrial trucks, manual pallet jacks, and gantry hoists. The work involves standing, moving materials, and handling components throughout the shift in a fast-paced, higher-pressure setting where attention to detail is essential. Safety procedures and regulations are clearly defined and must be followed at all times, and the work area and equipment are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing and production environment is required, with adherence to all safety and personal protective equipment guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reamstown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
