Today, CADES operates over 30 community living arrangements, adult day programs, the George Crothers Memorial School, and early-intervention services. CADES seeks Paraeducators to further our mission of empowering those with special needs to achieve their highest potential.

Position Description:

The George Crothers Memorial School is seeking a full-time classroom assistant to work in our special education program. Position works with students ages 3 through 21 with multiple physical and intellectual disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with facilitating and implementing teaching procedures in large, small, and individual instruction. Implement individual behavior plans/protocols with support from BCBA and the classroom teacher. Ability to use trained crisis prevention and intervention strategies. Ability to collect and analyze data to inform programming and instruction for students. Participate in rigorous staff development and training. Ability to assist the teacher in implementing the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Ability to assist in the preparation of instructional materials. Offer physical care assistance to students, which may include toileting, feeding, and other self-help skills. Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred. Ability to understand and meet the needs of children with special needs. Self-motivated and eager to help. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including the ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, bend, twist, and turn.
