Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a role where every day brings meaningful impact as a Paraprofessional working in an Autistic Support classroom for 7th and 8th grade students. This contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and extends through the current and following school year, providing continuity and rewarding connection throughout the school community.
Key Details:
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 7:45am - 3:00pm
Duration:
Now through June 4, 2026; next school year runs August 25, 2026 to June 4, 2027
Setting:
7th Grade Center, assisting students in an Autistic Support classroom with a focus on behavioral and self-care needs
Qualifications & Experience:
Prior school-based experience as a Paraprofessional, PCA (Personal Care Assistant), or BT (Behavior Technician) strongly preferred Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and a genuine interest in supporting students with disabilities Comfortable assisting students who may display challenging behaviors, including aggression and self-care needs Ability to remain calm and patient in dynamic classroom situations Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide daily classroom support to 7th and 8th grade students with autism, focusing on both academic and behavioral assistance Implement behavior support strategies under the guidance of classroom teachers and specialized staff Assist with self-care routines as needed throughout the school day Foster a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment for all students Collaborate with teachers and other school professionals to support student plans This position offers the unique opportunity to build strong professional skills and contribute positively to a school community, while working collaboratively with dedicated educators.
