05/22/2026 Paraprofessional Alt I High School Specialist - Grant Funded Williamsport High School Grade 10 Step 1 with a starting hourly rate of $24.23. Potential future earnings for this position on the ESP Salary Scale are $24.23 - $43.82. Additional steps will only be considered for PreK-12 teaching experience under state-issued professional licensure. 7 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year Reports to Building Administrator Employee Benefits Summary Role Overview The Alt 1 High School Specialist plays a vital role in supporting students enrolled in Alt. 1 programming designed for those who may not find success in traditional school-day approaches. This position supports a blended learning environment and is responsible for fostering academic progress, maintaining a productive and empathetic learning space, and facilitating communication among students, teachers, parents/guardians, and other key stakeholders. Minimum Requirements High school diploma/GED. Must meet Highly Qualified status (A.A. Degree, 48 credit hours, or have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Praxis Test). Required to complete Introduction of Restorative Practices and Circles Training. Experience working with at-risk youth or commensurate experience. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Qualifications Understanding student motivation and behavior management techniques. General knowledge of blended learning platforms Competency in language, writing skills, and mathematics skills. Technology proficient. Role Responsibilities Provide student support on/off site at career related activities. Provide academic and technical support in a blended learning environment. Assist students in navigating academic and personal barriers. Promote intrinsic and extrinsic motivation strategies to encourage student success. Work collaboratively with content area teachers (teachers of record) to monitor student progress and support instructional needs. Ensure alignment between student progress and course expectations. Accurately monitor, record, and report student academic progress and attendance. Maintain clear, consistent communication with teachers, school administration, student support teams, and parents/guardians. Support documentation and reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders. Support students with diverse learning styles and needs through differentiated support strategies. Reinforce school wide behavioral expectations with empathy and consistency. Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students. Actively participate in meetings and discussions with school administration, Student Support Teams, and other professionals involved in supporting the student. Maintain professional, confidential, and supportive relationships with all members of the school community. Effective communicator, both written and verbal. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Technologically proficient or willing to be trained on digital learning tools and data systems. Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools. Other duties as assigned. Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental Requirements The Environmental Factors and Physical/Mental demands represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20 lbs. on an irregular basis. Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb.
