//www.montgomeryparks.org/ Examples of Important Duties Supervises and directs a team of both career and seasonal park maintenance staff in all facets of general park upkeep. Plans, schedules, assigns, and oversees tasks while providing technical guidance to address work-related challenges. Participates in employee performance evaluations and counseling. Leads teams in stormwater asset maintenance, minor construction activities, turf care, and snow removal operations. Inspects worksites and determines optimal solutions for general maintenance needs. Performs wildlife management duties under the supervision of the Park Manager. Guides crew in stormwater asset inspections and trash/litter removal. Oversees embankment and erosion repair and maintenance projects. Prepares and applies chemicals to treat plant and turf diseases or to control pests and weeds. Performs other related duties as assigned.Important Skills and Characteristics:

Proven track record with data collection, statistics, and data analytics. Demonstrated track record of using technology to increase productivity and efficiency in the workplace. Demonstrate ability to manage a variety of backgrounds, personalities, and skill set. Strong interpersonal skills and an innate ability to express empathy. Proven track record of success in maximizing resources to get the work completed. Strong project management skills. Superb written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Stormwater (BMP) maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, parks and park/general maintenance operation, safety, turf maintenance, pesticides and their application, and basic auto and equipment maintenance.Preferred Qualification s:

Experience with Parks Departments or large government organizations. Advanced ArcGIS, MS Office, enterprise and specialty software proficiency. Knowledge of local, State and Federal laws and policies. Maryland Pesticide Applicator's certification a plus. Certification by the National Playground Safety Institute a plus.Working Conditions:
Incumbent primarily works outside with a combination of office work occasionally or as assigned. Position requires a combination of field and office work. Work conditions may include exposure to various elements and adverse weather conditions. Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and regularly up to 50 pounds. An essential employee for on-call 24 hours for emergencies. Must be available to work weekends and evenings as necessary.Additional Information:

The salary range listed above represents the earning potential for this position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Very flexible benefits package! All applicants for this job posting will be evaluated for both current and future Park/Facilities Maintenance Leaders-PAC positions over a six-month period, or until the pool of qualified candidates is depleted. Upon completion of this cycle, a new posting may be published for subsequent opportunities. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED). Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in ground maintenance, golf course maintenance, building maintenance or park maintenance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total five (5) years. Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment. Pass Commission medical examination. Depending upon an assignment, positions in this class may require within 12 months of hire (a) Commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements; (b) obtainment of certifications including: Maryland Department of Agriculture's Pesticide Applicator certification in the categories appropriate to the work assignment; Maryland Department of Agriculture's Professional Fertilizer Applicator certification; and National Playground Safety Institute certification.
