Job Summary:
Park Services is responsible for performing a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks. This position is a regular part-time position working up to 30 hours per week . Responsibilities include cleaning and restocking public bathrooms and pressure washing shelters, tables, and walkways, cleaning, sweeping, polishing, waxing, vacuuming, and maintaining bathrooms and yurts of Jekyll Island Campground. Work involves public contact, customer service, as well as working cooperatively with others to ensure a positive guest experience is required.
Description:
Performs custodial work necessary to maintain buildings and grounds in exceptional conditions; scrubs, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors, cleans restrooms, removes trash and participates in other cleaning/disinfecting actions to keep assigned areas clean. Cleans public restrooms, restock bathroom tissue, clean mirrors and floors, and applies air fresheners. lean and sanitize yurts after departures including dusting, sweeping, mopping, clean windows to prepare for arriving guests. Ensures adequate cleaning supplies are maintained in stocking areas; requests and picks up supplies from the warehouse. Safely operates motor vehicle to locations on assigned route; performs vehicle inspections as required. Cleans buildings/structures as assigned; cleans fixtures throughout, vacuum and dust as necessary. Pressure washes shelters, tables and walkways as required. Pick up trash and debris, disposing of properly. Removing trash from bins as required. Performs various custodial duties as determined and directed by the Manager and/or Assistant Manager. Performs grounds custodial duties during special events. Attends and completes assigned training. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
6 to 12 months experience in cleaning and maintenance (or related experience). Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment preferred. Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and work independently; good communication skills. Manual skills to perform cleaning, utilize cleaning tools, operate vacuum cleaners, etc. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Must have reliable transportation. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be reliable with availability on weekends and holidays. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. More than 50% of the typical work day may be spent walking, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands or fingers. Between 25% and 50% of the typical work day will be spent crawling. Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing. Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment and determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. Required to perform in outdoor environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold. Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to chemicals. May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation. Will be subject to close quarters, shafts, manholes, enclosed rooms, small sewage, water line pipes and function in narrow aisles or passageways. Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
