Job Description

Description:
The housekeeper is responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness of the nursing home facility. He/She uses cleaning agents and is familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) location and relevance in cleaning routine and hazardous spills. This individual cleans offices, common areas and resident's rooms on a daily basis. Deep cleaning of resident's rooms is performed upon discharge and as scheduled, stripping, and waxing of the kitchen area is performed on a scheduled basis. The housekeeper works closely with residents and staff requiring skills in therapeutic communication and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write and follow oral directions In English. Demonstrates a negative criminal background check and drug screen. Demonstrates a normal physical exam and reference review. Demonstrates ability to lift 50 pounds. Communicates in a positive manner with team members, elders, and their family members, and community representatives. Demonstrates the ability to work in a cooperative manner with others. Possesses capability to work alternating shift assignments. Demonstrates personal cleanliness.

Reports to work on time and as scheduled for shift, orientation, meetings and in-services. Maintains confidentiality of medical records. Demonstrates ethical behavior in the work setting. Demonstrates professional attire and personal hygiene in the work setting.
DELIVERY OF SERVICES
Maintain cleanliness of facility by cleaning equipment, vacuuming carpets, straightening common areas, offices, resident's rooms, mopping floors, polishing furniture, emptying trash cans, cleaning interior and exterior surfaces of windows as needed. Maintain safety of the environment by picking up items that have fallen toto the floor in resident and common areas on a daily basis. Disinfects bathrooms on a dally basis through the cleaning of toilets, sinks, counter tops, faucets and floors. Replaces paper products as needed in bathrooms and sink areas to include toilet paper and paper towels. Demonstrates terminal cleaning of resident rooms following discharge/expiration to include the following: cleaning all surfaces of the mattress, box springs, headboards, and footboards with a disinfectant, cleaning the interior and exterior surfaces of the bedside tables and overhead tables, shelves and clothing pole in closets, window sills, mirrors and walls. Taking down the privacy curtain in the room and sending it to the laundry, then rehanging the curtains following cleaning. Mopping and waxing the floor or cleaning the carpet as applicable. Making the bed. Follows standard precautions to clean up spills and soiled areas in the facility. Stores facility equipment and supplies properly. Demonstrates strict adherence to all infection control, hazardous material, isolation, and fire safety practices. Reports all hazardous conditions and/or equipment to immediate supervisor. Coordinates daily/monthly cleaning schedules and housekeeping services with other departments. 11. Assists with heavy lifting as requested by other team members.
