Job Summary The Food Service Worker's primary responsibility is washing all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and maintaining the kitchen area in a clean and orderly fashion. The Food Service Worker will assist in putting away deliveries as assigned by the supervisor. In addition, the Food Service Worker will assist cooks in preparation, and possibly aid in the actual cooking of meals when needed. The Food Service Worker may also be asked to assist in the dining room with serving if a need arises. II. Essential Job Functions A. Assists in the set up and break down of all meals. B. Putting away deliveries as assigned by the Supervisor. C. Washes all dishes as per Eskaton policy. D. Assists the Food Services Director in various administrative capacities as requested. E. Maintains the cleanliness of the department posted cleaning schedules. F. Reports any damage or problems with equipment to the Director of Culinary Experience and Maintenance. G. Assists in the preparation and serving of meals as directed by supervisor preferences, likes/dislikes, allergies and diet orders. H. Keeps Director of Culinary Experience informed of questions, reactions, comments or problems that may arise. I. Assists cook with food preparation and cooking, following recipes and instruction from cook. J. Helps serve from steam table line to dining room. K. Familiar with food service disaster plan. III. Works in accordance with established safety guidelines; uses proper body mechanics; follows safe work practices; wears appropriate safety gear. IV. Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent G.E.D., preferred. Previous experience working in a restaurant or food service establishment preferred. California Food Handler. Understands the philosophy of quality customer service and customer satisfaction. V. Work Conditions and Physical Requirements Requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Sedentary Work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Sedentary work involves sitting more than 67% of a typical workday. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work. X Medium Work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Heavy Work Exerting over 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. If related to patient care - Must be able to safely assist residents/patients including but not limited to lifting, turning, supporting weight and movement.
