Part- Time, 95 day contract, but may be combined with another part time position if appropriate Position Summary The Middle School Counselor supports students in achieving academic success and social-emotional well-being. This role involves providing guidance, counseling services, and coordination of programs that help students plan for their futures while addressing personal and academic challenges. Key Responsibilities Academic Support Assist students with course selection and scheduling Monitor academic progress and intervene when students are at risk Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support student achievement College & Career Readiness Guide students through career exploration and self-awareness experiences Collaborate to organize career explorations Support the development of a four year plan and parent communication Social-Emotional Support Provide individual and group counseling services Support students dealing with personal, behavioral, or social challenges Identify and refer students to outside services when needed Crisis Intervention Respond to student crises and provide immediate support Collaborate with families, staff, and community agencies in crisis situations Program Development & Coordination Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with state and national standards Use data to inform and improve counseling services Lead or support initiatives related to student wellness, bullying prevention, and mental health Collaboration & Communication Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff Participate in IEP/504 meetings as appropriate Collaborate to meet course planning, registration and scheduling needs Qualifications

Required:

Master's degree in School Counseling or related field Valid Iowa licensure with an endorsement for Professional School Counselor 5-12 - 173 Knowledge of adolescent development and counseling practices

Preferred:

Experience working in a middle school setting Familiarity with college admissions and career pathways Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
