Job Description

Nature School of York is seeking a warm-hearted, flexible, and child-centered part-time Pennsylvania-certified School Counselor or PA-licensed child/adolescent mental health professional to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is designed to support the behavioral, social, and emotional needs of our PreK-9th grade learners through one-on-one support, small group work, classroom collaboration, and teacher consultation. As a relationship-based nature school, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, connected, understood, and supported.
Position Details Schedule:
Approximately 12-15 hours per week,
Monday-Thursday Hours:
Flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM-3:00
PM School Year:
September-June Additional Requirements:
One monthly team meeting on a Friday, as well as parent conferences as needed, either in person or via
Zoom Salary:
$20,000-$23,000 annually

Paid Time Off:
Two weeks total paid vacation during winter and spring breaks The selected candidate will have the opportunity to help shape their weekly schedule within our Monday-Thursday school hours. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support to selected students both in and outside of the classroom Facilitate small groups as needed to support social, emotional, and behavioral growth Partner with teachers to develop and implement strategies that support individual learners Offer occasional classroom lessons related to social-emotional learning, coping skills, peer relationships, emotional regulation, or related topics Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student needs, progress, and support plans Participate in parent conferences as needed, either in person or via Zoom Collaborate with school leadership and teaching staff as part of a relationship-based, trauma-informed approach Support students in a nature-based learning environment, including outdoor classrooms and play spaces Qualifications- Candidates must hold one of the following: Pennsylvania-certified School Counselor Licensed Professional Counselor — LPC Licensed Clinical Social Worker — LCSW Licensed Social Worker — LSW , with appropriate experience working with children Other relevant Pennsylvania license or certification in child/adolescent mental health or school-based counseling may be considered Candidates must also: Have experience working with children and/or adolescents Be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions Be warm, flexible, collaborative, and child-centered Understand a relationship-based and trauma-informed approach Communicate clearly and professionally with families and staff Possess all required clearances, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprinting, and any other documentation required for school employment Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who believes deeply in supporting the whole child. We are looking for someone who can build trusting relationships with students, collaborate with teachers, communicate thoughtfully with families, and bring a calm, grounded presence to children navigating behavioral, social, or emotional challenges.
