PART-TIME SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER
Elizabeth Seton High School (ESHS) is a Catholic, secondary, college preparatory school for young women founded in 1959 by the Daughters of Charity. Located in Prince George's County, a suburb of Washington, DC, the school attracts students from surrounding counties and the District of Columbia. ESHS is committed to providing students with an integrated program that stresses moral values, academic excellence, civic responsibility, and community service. For more information about the school, including our guiding principles, please visit www.setonhs.org. Job Summary We are actively seeking a part-time Social Studies teacher for SY26-27. Applicants should be capable and comfortable teaching Social Studies courses across our curriculum (extremely critical).Core subjects include:
Government, U.S. History, World History and/or elective courses: Psychology and Sociology. We are searching for a professional educator to serve as a part-time Upper School Social Studies instructor. The Social Studies department is known for its collaboration, creativity, differentiation of instruction and assessment, and commitment to continuous improvement. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise students in the classroom, on school grounds, and educational trips Responsibilities Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning that helps foster students' intellectual, social, and emotional development Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments aligned with ESHS' curriculum and standards Practical technology skills, including using ESHS' learning management systems (Blackbaud and Google Classroom) Demonstrate best practices in data-driven instruction, including inquiry and hands-on activities, demonstrations, lectures, and discussions. Communicate regularly with families to identify students' talents, interests, and needs and update parents regarding students' achievements and progress. Active commitment to enhancing our school community through involvement in committees and student life activities. Collaborate with school-based staff and the ESHS community in meetings, regular analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance student's learning experience and increase student achievement. Other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Abilities :
A desire to teach in a Catholic School committed to Catholic education and the formation of young women in Christian character Ability to teach all levels of study, from College Preparatory to Advanced Placement Exemplary character and demonstrated services to others Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrate best practices in data-driven instruction, including inquiry and hands-on activities, demonstrations, lectures, and discussions Creativity and an ability to collaborate with colleagues Willingness and ability to contribute to an atmosphere and environment conductive to our girls' academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailEducation and Experience :
Bachelors' Degree in Education, History, Geography, or a related discipline Master's in related field preferred Social Studies teaching certification (grades 7-12) desired One year teaching experience required Specialized training in teaching secondary school-aged children is preferredPhysical Requirements :
Must be able to navigate school facilities and lead students to safety in case of an emergency Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at timesEmployee Benefits:
