Job Description
JOB Are you energized by big ideas, meaningful projects, and the chance to make a real impact behind the scenes? The part-time Special Projects Assistant plays a key role in helping the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department move forward with innovation, accuracy, and clarity. This position supports department-wide initiatives by collecting data, writing policies, documenting essential processes, and assisting with major projects—including the City's pursuit of CAPRA accreditation.

Creating a foundation of data and research that guides smart decisions.

Has proven ability in oral and written communications.
Is detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to learn.
Has the ability to conduct research and interpret information.
Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general.
Experience in data collection, policy development, or administrative support preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with monday.com, Power DMS, and Civic Rec preferred.
Bachelor's degree in recreation or a related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The City of Grove City is a Drug Free Workplace. All candidates who receive an offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for commonly used drugs, including marijuana.
This is a part time position with flexible daytime hours, scheduled up to 28 hours per week (Monday through Friday).

Maintain organized records and ensure materials remain up to date.

Help transform ideas into detailed project steps and documentation.
Manage timelines and tasks with efficiency and attention to detail.
Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.

Qualifications:
Is at least 18 years of age and must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.Has proven ability in oral and written communications.
Is detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to learn.
Has the ability to conduct research and interpret information.

Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The (Part-time) Special Projects Assistant will have the following duties under their direct supervisor:Research and Data Collection:
Conduct research on best practices in parks and recreation and related fields.Gather and analyze data to support decision-making, planning, and evaluation.
Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations to share findings with leadership.
Policy Writing and Documentation:
Assist in writing policies, procedures, and internal guides.Document key departmental processes in clear, easy-to-follow formats.
Maintain organized records and ensure materials remain up to date.
Support for
CAPRA Accreditation:
Assist in collecting and organizing evidence aligned with CAPRA standards.Help track progress, maintain documentation, and coordinate with staff.
Support compliance efforts and contribute to accreditation readiness.
Special Projects Support:
Assist with departmental initiatives, planning efforts, and strategic priorities.Help transform ideas into detailed project steps and documentation.
Manage timelines and tasks with efficiency and attention to detail.
Other:
Perform other related duties as assigned.Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
