Part-Time Street sweeper Operator/Truck Driver

GENERAL PURPOSE

Operate the City's street sweeper and dump trucks and general maintenance of the vehicles.

Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Daily pre-trip inspection of the city's street sweeper and dump trucks to ensure the safety of the vehicle is in compliance with DOT standards. 2. Safely and efficiently operating the city's street sweeper and dump trucks in accordance with traffic and safety laws. 3. Cleaning the street sweeper and dump trucks daily after operation. 4. Light duty maintenance of the street sweeper and dump trucks such as: checking fluids, tire pressure, lubrication of moving parts and changing out brooms as needed. 5. Assist in the ordering of parts as needed for repairs and aid in repairs if comfortable and qualified. 6. Operation of two single axle and one 10-wheeler dump truck to haul material to job sites and landfill.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's license with Air Brakes Endorsement. Must have a valid DOT medical card with no restrictions. Drug testing will be required for pre-employment and random DOT drug testing.

EXPERIENCE

Must have a minimum of two years' experience driving heavy equipment. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE

Must have general knowledge of heavy equipment daily checklist and able to perform minor repairs. Must have general knowledge of current safety and traffic laws.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain. Infrequent lifting of over 25 pounds. 2. Frequent physical activity related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and moderate lifting. 3. Essential functions require talking, hearing, and seeing. 4. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability, and discriminating thinking. 5. Required to work outdoors in warm desert climate. This position is part time (20 hours weekly) with no benefits. Salary $21.00
