Job Description

Part-time Veterinary Assistant Beavercreek, OR 97004 Full-time Full-time Beavercreek Animal Clinic is a small, privately owned clinic just outside of Oregon City. We are searching for a motivated veterinary assistant to join our small talented team. The ideal candidate will be skilled, team-oriented, reliable, compassionate, and pay close attention to detail. This is a part-time position, Wednesday through Friday, with no nights or weekends! Pay depends on experience and will be discussed at interview. Position duties include, but are not limited to: Patient handling and restraint Assisting doctors with exams Surgical and dental assistance Vaccine and medication administration Blood draws and IVC placement Pharmacy duties, lab work, and drug calculations Outpatient procedures Maintaining sterile, clean, and organized hospital environment Maintaining complete and proper medical charting Obtain medical history and relevant patient information Help with day-to-day hospital flow and efficiency Customer service duties, including: greeting clients and answering telephones, scheduling appointments, presenting and explaining fees, and patient intake and discharge Client education Differentiate and prioritize between routine cases and emergency cases and alert staff accordingly Be familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases; including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission Hospital maintenance (including removal of animal waste) and ensuring that facility is neat and clean at all times—both inside and outside Ability to multi-task Ability to communicate professionally with clients Completing other projects as assigned Successful candidates will: Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills Have excellent technical skills The ability to pay close attention to detail, and be aware of the environment Knowledge of and ability to use medical abbreviations Have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, without sacrificing attention to detail or safety Have a strong work ethic Be a self-starting individual of integrity who is adaptable and accountable The requirements: Ability to comfortably lift 40 lbs Must have a high school diploma or equivalent A minimum of 2 years as a veterinary assistant Prior experience and competent skills in anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry Proficient computer skills Excellent communication skills Reliable Strong teamwork skills
