FixaPet is hiring a part-time Veterinary Assistant! FixaPet is a HQHVSN program sponsored by the Clark County Humane Society in Neillsville, WI. Since its inception in 2007, FixaPet has performed more than 37,300 spay/neuter surgeries. Services include spay/neuter surgeries for dogs, cats and rabbits, wellness appointments and vaccinations, and ensuring basic veterinary care for our clients. The work schedule for this position will be 7:30 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 9:00 a.m.
- 4:00 p.
m. on Friday. Basic tasks for the Vet Assistant position may include surgical prep, monitoring patients, taking vital signs, record keeping, and other duties as assigned. Prior Vet Assistant experience along with animal knowledge and animal handling skills are greatly preferred! Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch is needed, as well as ability to carry up to 30 pounds (heavier lifting will always require assistance from another staff member). Our ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude. This position will work closely with our clinic staff. We are looking for professional, friendly interactions with clients. Attention to detail, efficiency, and organizational skills are a plus. Compassionate care for patients is of the utmost priority. The Vet Assistant will work with the public on wellness/vaccination appointment days to greet clients, review pet information, and to assist the Veterinarians. Must be detail oriented and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Enjoy a beautiful working environment in Central Wisconsin! Also enjoy free vet exams for personal pets with low-cost diagnostic testing available. Beginning wage is $18-20 per hour based on experience. We intend to fill this position ASAP.
