Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Wound Care Specialist to join our nursing home team on a PRN basis. In this vital role, you will provide expert wound assessment, management, and treatment to promote healing and improve residents' quality of life. Your expertise will help ensure optimal wound care practices are followed, supporting our commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents through specialized wound management. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including measuring, photographing, and documenting wound characteristics using Point Click Care. Develop and implement individualized wound care plans aligned with best practices and current clinical guidelines. Perform advanced wound treatments, including dressing changes, debridement, and application of therapies such as negative pressure wound therapy when applicable. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including nursing staff, physicians, physical therapists, and dietitians—to coordinate comprehensive resident care. Educate residents, families, and staff on wound prevention strategies and proper care techniques to promote healing and prevent recurrence. Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and sterile processing procedures during all wound care activities. Maintain detailed documentation of treatments, progress notes, and clinical observations in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies. Qualifications Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with relevant experience in wound care management. Proven experience in nursing home settings or long-term care facilities is highly preferred. Familiarity with PCC. Knowledge of advanced wound therapies including suturing techniques, dermal fillers, and negative pressure devices is a plus. Experience with infection control practices and sterile technique in clinical environments. Strong assessment skills with the ability to develop effective treatment plans based on clinical evaluation. Excellent communication skills for educating residents, families, and team members about wound care procedures.
