Job Description
The CIP Operator is responsible for performing cleaning and sanitation of pasteurized processing systems using Clean‑In‑Place (CIP) procedures in a dairy manufacturing environment. This position ensures all equipment and systems meet sanitation, food safety, and operational standards prior to production. The CIP Operator plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, regulatory compliance, and plant readiness. All cleaning and sanitation activities must be completed safely, efficiently, and documented accurately in accordance with company procedures, SOPs, GMPs, and food safety standards. Primary Responsibilities - Pasteurized CIP Operator Perform all CIP functions in the pasteurized system according to sanitation standards, safety procedures, and production schedules Rebuild valves as required to maintain proper system operation and sanitation effectiveness Assist with maintaining and servicing clusters and related equipment Provide and stage sanitation supplies and materials Complete assigned task lists accurately each shift Maintain strong communication with Supervisors, Operators, and Maintenance Accurately complete all required documentation and data entry Record and update information in company systems (Data System, Microsoft Teams, Tileboard, sanitation logs) Follow all GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns immediately Work / Education / Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED required 1-3 years of experience in dairy manufacturing, food processing, sanitation, or CIP operations preferred Experience with automated CIP systems preferred Basic understanding of sanitation, food safety, and GMPs preferred Skills & Abilities Ability to follow detailed instructions and sanitation procedures Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic math skills for measuring chemicals and recording data Effective communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks in a production environment Strong safety awareness Training / Certification Requirements GMP / Food Safety Training required Chemical Safety Training required HACCP awareness preferred Lockout/Tagout Training preferred Forklift Certification preferred Work Environment / Safety Requirements Use of required PPE (gloves, goggles/face shield, rubber boots, protective clothing) Ability to work safely in wet environments Ability to work in hot and cold processing areas Safe handling of sanitation chemicals Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs throughout the shift Physical Requirements Frequent standing and walking Repetitive movements associated with sanitation and equipment cleaning Lifting, pushing, and pulling hoses, tools, and sanitation equipment Working around production machinery and sanitation chemicals
