  • Breakfast Pastries and Desserts Upper Crust Baking is one of Northern California's premier artisanal bakeries as well as one of its oldest.
Upper Crust has been family-owned and operated since 1986. We feature high quality, handcrafted artisan breads, Viennoiserie, and desserts made with all-natural, locally sourced ingredients. We have a retail bakery/boutique in Davis, stands at dozens of farmers markets throughout Northern California, and a growing wholesale operation. Please see our website at http://ucbaking.com We are looking for a passionate, and highly dependable Pastry Cook. Applicants with prior baking or foodservice experience are preferred, but not specifically required. This is a full-time position, with occasional overtime required. Job description Pastry Cooks participate in various stages of the end-to-end production of baked goods, including short doughs, breakfast pastries, and enriched dough products, creams and confections. A successful candidate will closely follow formulas; scaling ingredients; mixing dough; hand-cutting and forming; proofing; and baking. This is a very "hands-on" and physically demanding position. Dependability and availability are an absolute must. Weekend availability is required. MORNING shifts for this position are 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The pastry team members all begin at the same time together, no exceptions for individual circumstances. The Davis location is closed on Mondays. Pastry Cooks will be required to operate all bakery machinery including ovens, mixers, dough dividers, proofers, slicers, sheeters, etc., etc.. This is a role that requires working on your feet for long periods and the ability to regularly lift 50 pounds. Required Skills / Experience
  • You must be 18 years of age or older and have the right to work in the USA;
  • Dependability is an absolute must;
  • Availability to work early mornings, and weekends;
  • Prior commercial bakery experience or foodservice experience is a big plus.
