  • Full-time About us Baptist-Physicians' Surgery Center Patient Account Representative in a fast-paced outpatient surgery facility.
The Patient Account Representative primary responsibilities will include but not limited to entering data, emailing, faxing, printing, filing, and tracking chart information. This position will also be cross trained in registration to verify the accuracy and completeness of patient clinical, demographic and insurance information upon admission of the patient. Must have strong organizational skills and be willing to provide excellent customer service. Pay rate is based on years of experience. Assists with admission of patients to Pre-Operative area of surgery center. Performs duties as requested by Medical Doctors, Registered Nurses, or Clinical Manager. Verifies the accuracy and completeness of patient clinical, demographic and insurance information upon admission of the patient. Enters corrected patient information into the medical software system at the time of admission. Communicates patient and/or surgeon delays to the Associate Clinical Administrator, OR Manager or designated representative. Communicates with Clinical Manager, OR manager, or designated representative, as well as Surgery Schedulers, regarding any cancelled and/or altered procedures. Protects patient confidentiality and dignity by keeping patient charts in an inconspicuous location at the front desk; and, keeps discussion of a patient's procedure(s) to a tone discernable only to the patient/legal guardian. Follows all laws as required by HIPAA. Maintains an orderly and secure system for storing patient charts at the front desk. Contact patients to inform of financial obligations (deposits/copays) and pre-register when able. Creates patient charts and ensures that all documentation such as H&Ps, tubal consents, etc. are provided from the doctors' offices and are placed on chart prior to the admission. Protects continuity of care by providing staff with records from the patients' previous visits within our facility when applicable. Maintains a presence at the Business Office desk at all times with the exception of breaks and lunch. Retrieves and forwards messages to the appropriate personnel. General management of the phone system. Cross-trains in scheduling, medical records, chart preparation and collections. Performs other clerical duties as directed by the Pre-Patient Access Supervisor under direction of the Business Office Manager.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Required:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
1 year related experience preferred Incumbents not meeting these specifications have been grandfathered based on qualifications in effect prior to the date on page one of this document.
