PAYROLLCoordinate with Human Resources, the Business Office and the Town Benefits Coordinator in the collection of information concerning new hires, status changes, resignations and retirements, along with pay rate and locations changesCreate new hire packets and meet with newly hired employees throughout school yearMaintain confidential information, such as leaves of absence, salaries, stipends, union issues, and payroll deductionsRespond to a high volume of employee inquiries regarding payroll and work with Human Resources to resolve issuesFoster and maintain relationships with various stakeholders including school secretaries/administrative assistants, IT, Town Treasurer and Town Accounting officesCollect timesheets and all mandatory forms essential to the payroll process. Review and analyze them for accuracy and completeness within the timeframe of the applicable pay periodComplete bi-weekly payrolls for 1000+ employees in Munis, the payroll system of record, in compliance with all applicable laws and bargaining contractsCalculate and record payments due to COLA increases, step increments, absences, overtime, leaves of absence and retro paymentsCreate annual salary tables and pay calendars for all bargaining units and non-represented employees Continually evaluate and improve tracking methodologies to streamline the collection and recording of timesheets and other pay related data needed for paymentsPerform monthly internal audits for accuracyUpdate procedures based on new policies, collective bargaining agreements and legislationProcess wage verifications and generate reports as needed for other departments and stakeholdersParticipate in project teams to improve operations and processes
The current rate is $26.64-$33.29 per hour, based on years of administrative or Payroll experience. The 2026-2027 school year rates will be determined pending School Committee approval.

Payroll SpecialistTBDShrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Payroll Specialist for the District Office. This is a full year-round position with paid sick, personal, and vacation time, and includes health and other insurance options. Essential Duties:
The Payroll Specialist will have a variety of assigned responsibilities and also perform a variety of tasks or projects as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations. Advanced spreadsheet and computer applications background and experienceKnowledge of Munis a plus, or capable of learning quickly Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, Adobe, and Google AppsMust be able to handle large volume of data and multi-taskCritical thinking skills, able to work independently and on a teamMinimum of Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business fieldDemonstrates the core values of Shrewsbury Public SchoolsUnderstanding of municipal unions and contractsCommunicate and collaborate effectively Extreme attention to detail and deadline orientedPreferred:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business field with at least two years of related experience•Above educational requirements may be waived if the candidate has either a combination of relevant coursework, training, or on the job training demonstrating they will be successful in this role.The current rate is $26.64-$33.29 per hour, based on years of administrative or Payroll experience.
