Job Description We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our growing team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is responsible for managing weekly payroll processing for approximately 80-100 employees , primarily supporting field-based construction teams working on commercial projects across multiple states. Position Overview The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for administering the company's weekly payroll process, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage requirements , and maintaining payroll accuracy across multiple states. This role works closely with the accounting and HR teams and reports to the Director of Human Resources. The position is fully onsite at the company's Grandville office. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for approximately 80-100 W2 employees Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and construction payroll regulations Maintain payroll data within the Sage accounting platform (Sage Intacct / Sage 100 environment) Review timecards, verify wage classifications, and ensure payroll accuracy Manage payroll deductions, benefit contributions, and employee changes Coordinate with accounting and HR regarding payroll reporting and documentation Support payroll tax reporting and multi-state compliance requirements Respond to employee payroll questions and provide timely resolution Maintain confidentiality and compliance with payroll and employment regulations Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and documentation as needed Qualifications 3-5 years of payroll processing experience Experience in processing weekly payroll is preferred Strong understanding of prevailing wage payroll requirements (construction industry experience highly preferred) Experience working with Sage accounting/payroll systems preferred Experience supporting multi-state payroll Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams Ability to manage payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment Job Requirements Compensation & Benefits Benefits begin after 90 days of employment and include: Medical Insurance (BCBS) The company covers 90% of single coverage 50% coverage for family plans Dental & Vision (Delta Dental) 401(k) Plan Company matches up to 2% on employee contributions up to 10% Paid Time Off 1 week vacation initially 2 weeks after 2 years Additional PTO may be negotiable based on experience
