May 15, 2026 The Kittery School District seeks a full-time Payroll Specialist/Accounts Payable Associate who is primarily responsible for performing all payroll-related tasks for approximately 215 employees. The District seeks a self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Functioning well with weekly deadlines is a must. This is a full-time, five-days/week, on-site position. In-depth training will be provided.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Data entry into the payroll system Payroll reconciliation and identifying discrepancy issues Assisting with special projects when needed Running of reports weekly and monthly as needed Partner with a part-time Accounts Payable Associate to ensure successful bi-weekly warrant preparation Ensure payroll processes compliance with Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML), including employee contributions, employer reporting, and record keeping
Qualifications:
College degree a plus but not required Minimum 6 months of successful experience working in a related field (accounting, payroll, banking, bookkeeping, tax preparation, etc.). A solid understanding of accounting practices PC Proficiency Strong skills in Excel Strong organizational skills Superior customer service skills (ie friendly, patient) Strong communication skills Possesses a healthy sense of humor Remains calm under pressure Having worked in an education setting or non-profit is a plus Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
