PCA - Personal Care Assistant Bala Cynwyd, PA 1 DAYS AGO 22570350 Summary Bala Cynwyd, PA Travel Job within 25 miles operating radius $17.00 - $18.00 per Hour 6 Months Experience High school graduate or equivalency certificate (GED) No Commission 30.00 hours per week / Day Shift / Full-Time Description About the Position Grand Home Health Services is currently seeking qualified Personal Care Assistants (PCA) to provide one-to-one support to preschool-aged children with developmental delays or disabilities in early childhood classrooms and community settings. The PCA works directly with children to help them safely participate in classroom activities, follow their Individualized Education Program (IEP), and develop independence in daily routines. PCAs operate under the supervision of licensed therapists, behavior specialists, and special instructors. This role is ideal for individuals who are patient, dependable, and passionate about supporting children with special needs. Position Responsibilities
  • Provide direct 1:1 support to assigned child in preschool or early learning environments
  • Assist the child with participation in classroom activities and learning routines
  • Implement supports outlined in the child's IEP (Individualized Education Program)
  • Implement behavioral strategies from Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) under supervision
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, feeding, hygiene, and transitions when required
  • Maintain continuous supervision and ensure child safety at all times
  • Assist therapists and instructors with data collection and behavioral observations
  • Document required service notes or observations as directed in approved systems
  • Report any safety incidents, injuries, or behavioral crises immediately according to agency and school district policies
  • Maintain professional communication with classroom staff, families, and supervisors
  • Follow all confidentiality requirements under FERPA and applicable privacy laws Minimum Education Requirements Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate's degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Child Development, or Human Services preferred but not required
REQUIRED PENNSYLVANIA CLEARANCES
All applicants must obtain and maintain the following clearances prior to employment. Employment cannot begin until all clearances are verified.
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34 Clearance)
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 33 Clearance)
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114) when required by Pennsylvania residency rules
  • Act 168 Employment History Review (Child Abuse Employment Verification)
  • TB screening if required by the assigned educational setting Clearances must remain valid throughout employment and must be renewed in accordance with Pennsylvania regulations.
REQUIRED TRAINING
All employees must complete and maintain the following trainings:
  • Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training
  • Praesidium Abuse Prevention Training Modules
  • FERPA Confidentiality Training (annually)
  • Elwyn Physical Safety Management Training
  • Minimum 20 hours of annual paraprofessional training in accordance with PA Title 22 Chapter 14
  • CPR and First Aid certification strongly encouraged Additional training may be required depending on assignment, including behavior management strategies and early childhood intervention practices.

  • Maintain professional boundaries with children and families
  • Follow all agency policies and school district procedures
  • Protect the confidentiality of all student information
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
  • Work cooperatively with teachers, therapists, and supervisors
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, incidents, or mandated reporting situations Work Environment Services are typically provided in:
  • preschool classrooms
  • childcare centers
  • Head Start programs
  • early learning environments Most assignments involve supporting one assigned child during school hours.
