Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting in patient care throughout all nursing areas. Is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.Minimum Requirements:
Education & Training:
High school diploma/GED equivalent.Required Licenses/Certifications:
BLS Certification is required. CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, or equivalent training or experience preferred.Work Experience:
1 - 2 years previous hospital or nursing home experience strongly preferredEssential Job Responsibilities:
Provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel Observes and reports patient's status and needs. Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation form. Confirms patient identity via use of two patient identifiers. Obtains specimens and transport to and sends through designated tube. Communicate and have respect for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Updates patient Intake/Output including oral intake only, measured urine output, and measured urinary catheter output after emptying. Records patients' medical information and vital signs. Answers call lights and responds to patient needs. Hourly rounding addressing the 5P's:
Pain, Potty, Positioning, Personal belongings, and Pantry. Perform vital signs as ordered and document in a timely manner, report abnormal results to the nurse. Assist patients to meet their needs such as elimination, feedings, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation. Assist with ADL's Perform EKG's as ordered. Perform bladder scans as ordered. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information as observed by peers and management. Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance. Attends all required department-specific education and training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job related hazards. Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions. Wears proper identification while on duty. Perform other duties as assignedSimilar remote jobs
