Peer Specialist Avon Park, FL 33825 Full-time Full-time Overview Join our dedicated team as a Peer Specialist and become a vital part of transforming behavioral health services! In this role, you will leverage your lived experience and professional skills to support individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use recovery, and behavioral health issues. Your energy, empathy, and motivational approach will empower clients to achieve their recovery goals, foster resilience, and build hope for the future. Responsibilities Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change Assist individuals in crisis intervention and crisis management, ensuring safety and stabilization during difficult moments Utilize behavioral health knowledge to guide clients through recovery plans, emphasizing strengths-based approaches Conduct motivational interviewing sessions to encourage engagement and facilitate goal setting Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation and communication Mentor clients through social skills development, addiction counseling strategies, and community resource navigation Support clients in developing coping strategies and resilience skills during individual or group sessions Experience Lived experience with mental health challenges, substance use recovery, or behavioral health issues is essential; certification as a Peer Specialist is highly preferred Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and crisis management within behavioral health settings Background in mental health counseling, social work, or addiction counseling is advantageous Proficiency with EHR systems for documentation and care coordination Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and empower others through active listening and empathetic engagement Experience in mentoring or coaching individuals through recovery journeys is highly valued This role is perfect for compassionate individuals eager to bring their personal journey into professional service.
